Typically, visits to Scotland in February involve ice axes and getting pretty chilly whilst scaring ourselves on a few winter climbing routes...
...however, this didn't seem to be what George had in mind!!
Leaving Ballabrooie at 5am, and driving up the Point of Ayre, the most Northerlie point of the Isle of Man, and our usual setting out point for the Scotland crossing : )
an hour in and we took our first break with a couple of Porpoise beside us : )
A few Guillemots and Razorbills about too... its getting toward that time of year.
Stunning views of the snow covered mountains, as a backdrop to the Isle of Whithorn.

A big thank you to Theia for making me a blueberry muffin, which went down nicely, perched on the cliffs overlooking our return crossing...
Due to the daylight parameters, lunchtime was a somewhat short 30 mins...
...finishing back in local waters as the sun gave an amazing display!!
A large atlantic grey seal swam about the kayaks, but we had to keep going, as Katia and Aoibhinn were waiting on the shore to welcome us home!
"A solid performance" said George.
It was a fairly tough paddle with spring tides, and the occasional bit of chop on the way over,
Training is indeed progressing : )

the answer is simply "because we can!"
